Something is not working as expected, what basic troubleshooting steps can I take?

Try signing out, closing everything down, logon and try again. Try using a different device (laptop / tablet etc) or a different web browser (Google Chrome / Microsoft Edge), or you could use the dedicated app. If you are using an Apple mobile phone, make sure you have the latest version of the Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Office apps installed. If you are using an android mobile, there is specific guidance for students in the install guide that you will need to follow, but you may find it easier to use another device.

Trust Teachers & Staff FAQs

How do I make sure people in a team (class) or channel see my message?

The best way is to @mention them. Type @ before someone’s name and they will get a notification. To get the attention of an entire channel, type @channel before your message and the channel will receive notifications. To get the attention of the entire team, type @team before your message and all your teammates / class will receive notifications.

How do I submit work “on behalf” of a student to an assignment?

It is not currently possible to submit work on behalf of the student to an assignment. You can submit feedback to Microsoft for them to add this feature here

Student’s can’t hand in work to an assignment, what do I do.

Please ask students to follow the basic troubleshooting steps (shown earlier) and direct them this help page. There is also a maximum of 10 files that can be submitted by one student to an assignment, therefore if students are trying to attach many photos this will not work. Ask the student to email / message you instead. If they still have difficulty it is important to get as much detail as possible about WHY they cannot hand-in the work, so asking them what device / browser they are using, or for a screenshot can help point them in the right direction. This YouTube video explains the assignment process from both a teacher and students view.
